Geomechanics Research Unit (GMR), Institute of Engineering, Suranaree University of Technology is pleased to present the Second Thailand Rock Mechanics Symposium (ThaiRock 2009). The meeting will be held on March 12-13, 2009, at Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel & Resort, Chonburi, Thailand.
The rapid growth of the infrastructure development and natural resources exploitation in Thailand and neighboring countries has called for advanced knowledge, skill and expertise in rock mechanics for the designers and on-site engineers. Educational institutes that offer rock mechanics and rock engineering disciplines are relatively few in this region. ThaiRock 2009 represents a continued effort to promote the significance of the rock mechanics profession, and to allow an opportunity for the local and regional mining, civil, and geotechnical engineers, geologists, researchers and regulators to discuss and exchange their knowledge, problems and experience. ThaiRock 2009 also represents a collaborating effort among leading educational institutes government agencies and private companies in Thailand.
