Geomechanics Research Unit (GMR) has been established by Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) to provide geomechanics research and consulting services to the government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and mining and construction industry in Thailand and overseas. GMR is operated under the Institute of Engineering, and is organized and controlled by registered professional engineers. The GMR faculty and consultants on board are recognized experts in various areas of geomechanics, and have advanced degrees in mining, geological, geotechnical, and civil engineering. Strengths of GMR include design, analysis and research, supported by advanced knowledge and industrial experience in geomechanics and geotechnology.

GMR uses state-of-the-art approaches to provide a broad scope of geomechanics consulting services, ranging from design of surface and underground structures to numerical modeling and geotechnical testing and research. By combining academic and industrial experience supported by advanced analytical and computing skills, GMR aims to deliver the best engineering solutions with the most cost-effective services to clients involved in mining and geotechnical developments.
